My life

I'm a web developer who's a drupal expert. I carry my laptop around in a Geek Freedom League backpack - they gave it to me because I love open source software (and installing it for people). I love my Apple MacBook Pro and blog about all things geeky at (apple)Mac Geek.

I live at Pangani, the name of a guesthouse which Nieu Communities a new monastic community in Pretoria North is based out of. I'm documenting some of this journey at my Beyond the Boerewors Curtain blog. I'm deeply interested in the Church in South Africa - both its history in supporting and condemning Apartheid and its future as we work towards the kingdom of heaven coming here on earth. I blog about these things at FutureChurch.

I'm part of a group of missionally-minded forward-thinking people called the emerging church conversation. Although much of this conversation happens face-to-face, the Emerging Africa website helps facilitate some of this.

I love coffee, wine, and music. I'm still slowly learning how to play the cello...and perhaps my guitar playing will soon be at a place where I'll start playing some live acoustic sets.

This year I've started mixed martial arts and am continuing to explore Max/MSP/Jitter and interactive visual art.

I'm a certified NLP practitioner (doing Masters in August) and am thinking of become an Adobe Certified Instructor (ACI) in Photoshop CS3. This ties into my plan for world domination in 2009, which involved moving between Pretoria, Joburg and Cape Town for the year. The ACI will add some training abilities to my skillset.
